#GivingTuesday was started by the United Nations Foundation and 92nd Street Y. Falling after Thanksgiving, Black Friday, and Cyber Monday, #GivingTuesday is a global movement dedicated to giving back during the holiday giving season.
Supported by the United Nations and celebrated since 1985, IVD (December 5) promotes the spirit of volunteerism and pays special tribute to people's invaluable contributions in making a difference locally, nationally, and globally, inspiring more to take up the challenge of helping to improve the lives of others.
The Community Foundation of Singapore (CFS) was founded to encourage and enable philanthropy in Singapore. We bridge donors with charitable organisations to develop programmes and give out grants that support a wide range of needs in the community. CFS is a registered charity with Institution of Public Character status. In line with Giving Week, CFS staff will take the elderly from Alzheimer’s Disease Association (ADA) to Gardens by the Bay.

Established in 2002, the Singapore Business Federation (SBF) champions the interests of Singapore’s business community in trade, investment and industrial relations.

As the country’s apex business chamber, SBF represents over 22,500 Singapore-registered companies with a share capital of S$0.5 million and above. The Federation also works closely with key local and foreign business chambers that contribute significantly to the Singapore economy.

For #GivingWeek, merchants listed with halalfoodhunt.com, which provides a user-friendly directory of halal-certified or Muslim-owned businesses, will be submitting a dish to charity where proceeds will go to either Project Goodwill Aid or Literacy Initiative for Equity. halalfoodhunt.com will be providing a complimentary video coverage for our merchants of the dish and the restaurant.

The SBF Foundation is an Institution of Public Character (IPC) set up in 2013 by the Singapore Business Federation (SBF) in response to our Prime Minister’s call for businesses to be more engaged in corporate philanthropy and corporate social responsibility so as to build a more inclusive society.

The SBF Foundation has been envisioned to be a foundation of the business community for the community of Singapore. It seeks to champion and multiply the efforts of the business community in corporate social responsibility and corporate giving; and to promote the welfare and employability of disadvantaged persons in the workforce.

Established in 1906, the Singapore Chinese Chamber of Commerce & Industry (SCCCI) is an internationally renowned business organisation and the apex body of the Chinese business community in Singapore. It is the founder of the biennial World Chinese Entrepreneurs Convention and the World Chinese Business Network (www.wcbn.com.sg), a global online business information portal. It plays a key and pro-active role in representing the interests of the local business community. In its continued drive for service excellence, the SCCCI has become the first business chamber in the region to be awarded ISO 9001:2000 certification since 1995. In 2009, the Chamber successfully upgraded its ISO certification to ISO 9001:2008.

The SCCCI has a membership network comprising over 4,000 corporate members and over 150 trade association members, representing over 40,000 companies including large financial and business organisations, multinational corporations, government-linked companies, and small and medium enterprises from a wide spectrum of trades and industries. These members together provide vast resources and opportunities which enable the SCCCI to develop an influential global Chinese business network for business, education, culture and community development. In return, they share a strong sense of pride and identity together and benefit immensely from the SCCCI’s membership services, facilities and activities.
